Thanks for stopping by.
My name is Daniele. I live in northwestern Italy, and this is my personal web space. I speak Italian, English, French and I am actively studying Finnish at the moment. I have a background in mathematics and work as a programmer and a nerdy/mathematical consultant for a variety of clients. I dedicate part of my time inventing tools and exploring multiple disciplines: topics and tools that this website is intended to cover and host.
My interests include:
- Mathematics: especially discrete mathematics and related fields such as graph theory and combinatorics.
- Music: as a listener, I enjoy late Renaissance and Baroque music, jazz, the British Invasion, and progressive rock. As a musician, I am particularly drawn to composition and songwriting.
- Linguistics: I am fascinated by the diversity of syntactic and morphological structures in human languages (linguistic typology) and the ways languages evolve (comparative linguistics). I am also interested in language creation (glossopoiesis/conlanging).
- Game Design: I have invented several games, some of which have received positive feedback from experienced game designers. My main focus is abstract board games, but I am also developing a baseball-themed game that I hope to complete in the near future.
- Go: I am an amateur Go player and serve as one of the administrators of a local Go club.
- Knowledge Organization: an often underappreciated field that intersects multiple disciplines and focuses on managing knowledge in the most effective and meaningful way.
- Data Visualization / UX: I believe a well-designed interface can make the difference between a successful product and a failed one. I am particularly intrigued by the subtle boundary between user and tool.
Tools:
Etymorfi: A morphological/etymological visualizer of the finnish language.
Minstrel Buddy: A specialized search engine for english poetry and songwriting.
